Joanne's statement
My work reflects the way I see and feel about those things that arouse my curiosity and imagination.
I have chosen to express myself in black and white because it makes me pause….to look….to see….to feel. I am not distracted by color.
Black and white photography is many things: simple, complex, timeless, yet immediately present, classic and totally modern.
There is something truly exquisite about black and white photography. For me, nothing compares to a beautifully rendered black and white image. All those shades of black and white seem to convey the emotions we all share from light to dark and back again.
Each of you may see and feel something different; this is as it should be. My goal is to engage you; for you to find your own determination of meaning. Make of them what you will, and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
