I'm a filmmaker and a video artist based in Hanoi. I discovered the beauty of scannography 6 months ago and since then I've developed some works in scannography.
I bumped into scanner by chance 6 months ago in a pre production for a family documentary that requires scanning old photos. Since then, I was attracted by the nostalgic and dark look that scannography has to offer.
I guess my work can not be divided to exclusively portraits or abstract or illustrative because to me, scanner art is a new horizon to discover and experiment. However, my style can be distinguished with the use of xray film. Other materials used in my works include decayed flowers, photocopied papers and so on. My workflow is not having a workflow. I'm just having fun by putting anything possible on the scanner and see what happens, but what inspires me is the distorted look of people's portraits on scanner, the inescapable nature of time and people stucking between life and death and also some of my personal problems.
