My experiments with scannography started from curiosity and a simple question: "what will happen if..?" I have never known or seen that someone else except me does scanning. Only after showing my works on Internet I found that there are some people who enjoy scanning as well. Amongst my scans you can find, not only flowers, papers and other everyday-life things, but also portraits (mostly they are selfportraits, but sometimes my friends also "pose" for me). I use minimum of Photoshop for my works: cropping, brightness-contrast and saturation.
By scanning I try to understand and imagine how things, emotions and feelings would look if to observe them by different "eyes" and in different "time". Inside a scanner everything seems special, space has unexplainable deepness, colours are becoming surreal and ordinary things are getting "overworlded" mysteries..

Who is Elena

Elena Kropaneva is student of architecture. She lives in Russia, Ekaterinburg and studies for Masters at Ural State Academy of Architecture and Arts.
