I discovered the limitless inspiration paper could offer as a child. I started out making origami and paper airplanes, and became fascinated with the many patterns, colors and textures available to me. As an adult, my chosen techniques have evolved. My first images of paper were created using large-format film cameras. I explored many different film sizes, and eventually embraced digital shooting as well. Although I have been scanning for more than a decade using drum, sheetfed and film scanners, I never considered scanning as a creative tool until the beginning of this year, when I was inspired by the translucency of pages scanned on a flatbed scanner. This was a happy accident that has furthered my explorations into looking at paper in a new and thrilling manner. In many ways, scannography has extended my creative journey.
